Microphone preamplifier with heritage. We started with the same design as the MP20, M80, and VXP: Discrete Class A input buffers followed by a gain stage with two servos, giving you 60 dB of preamp gain with 52 dB of headroom. DigiMax is electronically balanced and has phase reverse on the first two channels, as well as 20 dB pad and selectable 48V phantom power on each channel. A unique feature is EQ Enhance™, which outlines a -4 dB EQ curve centered at 1 kHz from 250 Hz to 5 kHz. This is especially useful for drum overheads and other sources to reveal clarity and cut problematic frequencies. Compressor locked in limiter housing What makes a limiter musical? Usually, most limiters use peak detection, which actually clips the signal and can create unpleasant artifacts. RMS detection, while commonly used with most compressors, has the drawback of being too slow to catch extremely fast transients. DigiMax uses both RMS and peak detection to give you the best of both worlds. DigiMax employs an RMS-style compressor with a high ratio, while the peak portion is used only to protect the ADC input from clipping. The end result? Fast, musical, natural, and capable of catching everything you throw at it. Connectivity for days DigiMax has more I/O capabilities than any microphone preamp on the planet! 8 XLR microphone inputs + 2 1/4" instrument inputs. Outputs consist of 8 balanced analog TRS outputs, as well as a 24-bit ADAT lightpipe output and (4) stereo digital RCA SPDIF outputs (device ships in AES/EBU mode, connecting cable not included). And here's the best part... They all work simultaneously! The best preamp for real-time recording! Use the ADAT™ Lightpipe outputs to feed digital inputs to your recorders while simultaneously sending an identical signal to the FOH console via the analog TRS outputs. Goodbye, latency! Use the TRS analog outputs for monitoring tracks while simultaneously sending Lightpipe to your sound card or standalone computer interfaces. Add high-gain, low-noise microphone preamps to your digital console using Lightpipe, AES/EBU, SPDIF, or TRS analog outputs
