MOTU AUDIO EXPRESS

In the new hybrid model named Audio Express, both FireWire and USB are implemented. But the functionality of the interface does not stop there. The device has 6 audio inputs and 6 outputs.

Thanks to MOTU's hybrid technology, Audio Express has cross-platform compatibility with Mac or PC via FireWire port or high-speed USB 2.0 port. You can connect a microphone, guitar, keyboard, and digital input devices, and engage in professional sound recording in your personal studio.

The front panel of Audio Express provides simple mixing of all 6 inputs. You can connect a microphone, guitar, keyboard, and digital input devices, and immediately control the mix to the main output through four knobs on the front panel labeled MIC 1, MIC 2, LINE 3-4, and S / PDIF. Additionally, you can adjust the input levels directly from the front panel.

On the back panel, there are S/PDIF inputs/outputs, MIDI, and a foot controller input (or other functional computer keyboards programmed with the included software).

Audio Express is suitable for use in both studios and on stage, based on a computer or not.

Practically manual control of your mix

What makes Audio Express unique? All mixer parameters are adjustable from the front panel, where they are displayed on a backlit LCD screen.

Separate mix for each pair of outputs

Since the interface has four stereo buses, Audio Express allows you to create a completely separate mix for each pair of outputs (main outputs, line outputs, S / PDIF output, and phone). For example, the full mix can be directed to the PA system, while the guitar mix can be directed to stage monitors via line outputs. Input levels are routed through 4 mix buses. Programming for all 4 mixes (and input level) is done from the front panel by pressing the MIX knob.

Hybrid Firewire/USB 2.0

Audio Express provides flexibility and mobility of operation, thanks to connection to a computer via FireWire (400 Mb/s) or high-speed USB2 (480 Mb/s).

The FireWire bus provides the interface with the same characteristics: high speed, low digital latency, and unbreakable reliability; for which MOTU FireWire interfaces have become known. The high-speed USB 2.0 interface allows you to connect any instrument to your computer.

Thanks to hybrid technology, Audio Express easily connects to Mac or PC via FireWire port or high-speed USB 2.0 port and allows the use of six inputs and outputs simultaneously.

Microphone/instrument inputs

Two microphone/guitar inputs are equipped with high-quality preamps, overload protection, and everything necessary for recording a microphone or guitar with excellent sound quality. Each input is equipped with its own 48V phantom power switch and 20dB switch.

Analog adjustment controls with precise digital control

Audio Express's analog adjustment controls offer clean sound combined with precise digital control. The sensitivity level of the channels is adjusted for the input, not for a specific mix, so it applies to all mixes at once. They are also adjusted separately from the mix volume. Adjusting levels on analog inputs has never been so convenient. You will be able to precisely adjust the balance between your analog inputs using CueMix FX software.

MIDI input and output

Audio Express includes a MIDI interface that provides synchronization with the supporting program with sample accuracy. Connect a MIDI keyboard, sound module, or control panel — and you are ready to work.
